The Junior Centre of Excellence in Cybersecurity is a comprehensive educational and technological centre focused on cybersecurity and ICT, operating within the Brno High School of Informatics, Postal Services and Finance.

The centre includes a modern classroom complex with dedicated technological support, a videoconferencing room, facilities for teaching staff, and a training virtual ICT infrastructure environment (Cylab), including an arena for simulating responses to cybersecurity threats and incidents.

The centre is built on technological platforms and solutions with guaranteed long‑term support, provided directly by the manufacturer or a trusted supplier, ensuring sustainability, reliability, and up‑to‑date security standards.

The project contributes to improving the quality of graduates, thereby enhancing their employability in the labour market as well as their readiness for university studies. At the same time, it expands and strengthens the regional pool of ICT and cybersecurity professionals, supporting the long‑term development of expert capacities across the region.

Our Achievements at Home and Worldwide

Global Government Excellence Award

In February 2024, during the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai, the school received the international award “Excellence in Cybersecurity and Technology Education” for its Junior Centre of Excellence in Cybersecurity (JCEKB).

A total of 68 innovations from 32 countries were nominated in the competition. The jury evaluated the projects based on criteria such as positive impact, sustainability, and transferability.

REGIOSTARS 2023 (Finalist)

The JCEKB project was selected among the five finalists of the REGIOSTARS 2023 European competition in its category. REGIOSTARS recognises the best projects funded by EU funds that deliver innovation, citizen engagement, and regional impact.

Cyber Award of the Year 2023

As part of the first edition of the Cyber Award of the Year competition, the school received the prestigious title “Cyber Organization of the Year”. In addition, the head of the centre, Mr. Roman Koláčný, was awarded “Cyber Manager of the Year”.

This recognition confirms that the school and its entire team make a significant contribution to the development of cybersecurity in the Czech Republic, both through education and practical engagement.

Pedagogové, IT specialisté ze škol a studenti se 11. listopadu 2025 zúčastnili kybernetické konference – ALEF Security Talk Brno 2025. Proběhla v prostorách Střední školy informatiky, poštovnictví a finančnictví v Brně, poskytla učitelům nejen aktuální informace z oblasti kyberbezpečnosti, ale hlavně praktické nástroje pro okamžité použití ve výuce.
